Injection, infection, inspection - developing wound care in needle exchange

Abstract
Injection, Infection, Inspection - developing and marketing a wound care and tissue viability service to injecting drug users through needle exchange. The Cambridge Centre is a non-statutory drug and alcohol agency based in Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale in North Yorkshire, they provide a range of services for drug and alcohol users including safer injecting, harm reduction and needle exchange services. This presentation will look at how the wound care service was developed, how clients were encouraged to engage with the service and will look at some of the presenting wound care issues that were addressed and how they were dealt with.

Rich Luck is the Needle Exchange Team Leader for the Cambridge Centre, working in Scarborough. He has worked in the drug and alcohol field for nine years.
Gemma Hancock is a Tissue Viability Specialist Nurse working in North Yorkshire and Yorks PCT.
