Safer injecting
This 2-day course is essential for all those who need a good understanding of injecting drug use. The course enables participants to identify and reduce the risks associated with injecting drug use, whilst also considering the application and delivery of safer injecting interventions. Practical information and advice will be provided.
Learning objectives
To enable participants to:
- Gain understanding of the impacts of different policy responses to injecting drug use;
- Enable participants to feel confident in recognising and discussing medical complications of injecting;
- Understand how to maximise the effectiveness of interventions to reduce injecting related harm;
- Identify the key elements of harm reduction services for injecting drug users; and
- Be competent in communicating essential information to injectors, with particular reference to circulation, metabolism and vein care.
