Our MHRA medicines wholesale dealers licence

In order to sell water for injections (which is a licenced medicine) we had to apply for an MHRA Pharmaceutical Wholesale Dealer's Licence.

When we looked into what was required, it became clear that the pharmaceutical industry quality, storage, and product recall systems we had in place to manage the supply of our citric acid and vitC sachets meant that the application and assessment for the wholesale dealer's licence was not difficult, and our licence (the number of which is: WL/20973/1) was granted to us by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA) on the 9th May 2005.

The wholesale dealer's licence we have, permits us to 'store and distribute general sales list, pharmacy and prescription only medicines.'

The medicines we sell are:

  • Water for injections (2ml ampoules);

  • Water for injections (5ml ampoules);

  • Prenoxad. The injectable form of naloxone (the heroin overdose prevention drug); and

  • Nyxoid. The naloxone nasal spray.

All the controls and working practices required by the licensing authority have been defined and embodied within our ISO 9001:2008 quality management system.

Our quality management system is routinely audited both internally, and from time to time, we are independently inspected by the MHRA to ensure we continue to comply with the requirements of our Wholesale Dealer's Licence.
