Black Poppy Magazine is a health and lifestyle magazine for the drug using community. Written and created by people who use drugs, for people who use drugs. Black Poppy is distributed in partnership with Exchange Supplies.
The magazine is based in the UK and focuses on our rich drug using cultures, national and international drug policies and politics, and the fascinating stories of our drug histories; we also look at what we are using and how we are using it, in treatment, on the street, legally and illegally.
We include readers experiences, drug user specific health concerns, news, views and opinion as well as articles on being activists within our own communities and resources for those seeking support or advice.
BP strives to to keep us better informed to help make safer decisions around our drug use. We are a voluntary, non profit organisation, company ltd by guarantee and registered charity.
Mission: BP magazine provides a platform for people who take drugs to be able to talk about their views and experiences - a narrative by us, for us - about our own community.
We utilise the specialist knowledge and understanding we have of our communities to begin taking some control back, throwing off the shackles of peoples misconstrued preconceptions of drugs and drug users and redefining our own culture.
We aim to be a part of the debate and discussion around drug use in todays society and at the helm when influencing drug treatment, strategy and policy.
People who use drugs must be seen as part of the solution, and not just framed as the problem.
