Injectors should always use a new, sterile syringe. Services should try to give injectors enough equipment so they have a new, sterile needle and syringe for every injection.

However, in situations where an injector is going to share or re-use a syringe, these two short films explain how we know that it's safe to advise cleaning with bleach, and the optimum cleaning method in order to dramatically reduce the risk of blood borne virus infection.
